The Sanniti Path is the only trek that develops entirely within the Molise region, in Upper Sannio, in the territory that gave birth to the glorious Sanniti people, a stronghold of early Italy.
A lush green environment, ranging from 700 to 1400 meters in altitude, surrounded by the main mountain ranges of the central Apennines, offering panoramic views all the way to the Gargano promontory, the Trabocchi coast, and the Tremiti Islands.

Along the Sanniti Path, centuries-old pastures and forests alternate with small villages featuring the remains of medieval castles and archaeological sites, bearing witness to a millennia-old history linked to transhumant shepherding. Traces of this tradition remain in the ancient tratturi—grassy routes that flocks used to follow in search of pastures. These are signs of a rural civilization from which traditions, community spirit, typical products, and a heritage of millennia-old artisanal knowledge have sprung. For example, just think of Agnone with its bell foundries. Then there is Pietrabbondante, with the remains of the Samnite Theater-Temple, the most important architectural testimony to the religiosity of the Pentri Samnite nation.
