A 300 km journey through the cuore dell’Italiastarting from Umbria, crosses all of Lazio, and reaches near the border with Campania. A 16-stage itinerary following in the footsteps of san Benedetto da Norciawhich connects the three most important Benedictine sites: Norcia, his birthplace; Subiaco, where he lived for over thirty years and founded numerous monasteries; and Montecassino, where he spent the last part of his life and wrote the Rule. We will travel through predominantly mountainous areas, characteristic of central Italy. Norcia, from which the Path begins, is a charming town at the foot of the Sibillini Mountains, loved by trekking enthusiasts and naturalists.
Crossing low hills, we will pass through small villages immersed in perfect nature: Cascia, where Saint Rita, the “Saint of the Impossible,” lived; and Roccaporena, where she was born. Monteleone di Spoleto is a charming medieval village that rises at the edge of the Leonessa plain; Leonessa, at the foot of the Reatini Mountains, is a blend of medieval and Renaissance elements.
